Perth Hills (2Ha)

The Darling Range is a relatively young region for grape growing, yet its potential is striking.

Located 35 kilometres from the ocean and rising to around 400mtrs above sea level. Classic meditteranean conditions of long hot summers and cool wet winters. Significant diurnal range ensure tight acid retention across most varieties, yet summer days reach in excess of 38dgerees. Think Spain, Portugal, Southern Italy.

The Fairbrossen vineyard of approximately 2Ha, is planted with Tempranillo, Saperavi, Durif, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard sits on a westerly facing slope, with late mornings and long, afternoon sun, yet the cooling effect of Perth “Freo Doctor” seabreeze. Vines are planted on a variety of own roots and rootstock. First plantings began in 2001.

Margaret River (4.5Ha)

Our vineyard is situated at the head of the Wilyabrup Brook in the prime viticultural growing area of the Margaret River wine region. We established the 2.5 Ha vineyard in 1995 and planted Chardonnay (Gin Gin) , Cabernet Sauvignon (Houghton clone) and Malbec (C6V11). In 2020 we acquired a further 2Ha of the same site and is currently planted to Shiraz and Chenin Blanc.

Our decision to plant these classic varietals was determined by the regions temperate climate and proven history of suiting French varietals. The vineyard management is focused on low to moderate yields, and we maintain limited inputs when the season permits.

Fruit grown from this vineyard make our single vineyard wines. Wine making employs a ‘hands off’ approach, so the wines express the wonderful terroir of Wilyabrup within the Margaret River district.
